Dawes County Busted Mugshots is a private reference site, not a government office. We cannot confirm custody or release, retrieve an official booking record, post bond, or act for an agency. For a live status or an official copy, contact the public office that holds the record.
Official Dawes Record Contacts
For an adult county booking record, a releasable booking photo, or a current county-custody question, start with the Dawes County Sheriff’s Office and ask for the records custodian. The official county page does not publish a separate records window, form, fixed booking-photo fee, or current records email. The courthouse generally keeps weekday hours around 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but call to confirm before making a trip, especially for an older file or photo request.

Send a written request to the sheriff/jail records custodian and identify the person, approximate booking date or time, booking number if known, and the specific record sought. A request can ask for a booking or intake record, booked charges, bond or hold notation, a releasable identification photo, a release or transfer entry, and a releasable jail-register entry. Ask the office which submission channel it currently accepts, and keep proof of delivery.
Under Nebraska’s public-records framework, a written request must receive a response as soon as practicable and no later than four business days after actual receipt. The custodian must provide access, issue a written denial that gives the legal basis, or give a written delay explanation for a significantly difficult or extensive request, including the earliest practical completion date and estimated copy cost. Actual added costs may apply. For Nebraska residents, the Attorney General outline describes the first eight cumulative staff hours for searching, identifying, physically redacting, and copying as nonchargeable. A deposit may be required when estimated costs exceed $50. These are statewide request rules, not a Dawes-specific photo fee or promise of production.
Use the record holder that matches the stage of the matter:
- County booking or current local custody: the Sheriff’s Office above is the official route. A missing public web entry does not prove that no booking occurred.
- Later court case or disposition: contact Dawes County Court, 451 Main St. Suite D, Chadron, NE 69337, at 308-432-0116. Its stated weekday hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Nebraska Justice Court Case Search is the state’s court-case path, not a jail-status tool.
- State-prison custody: use the NDCS Incarceration Records search for a sentenced Nebraska prisoner, then use NDCS public-records procedures for an NDCS-held record. NDCS is separate from a Dawes County booking.
- Warrant information: the county’s warrant-check path is explained on Sheriff's Most Wanted; no public county warrant portal was verified.
- News or an arrest narrative: Mugshots in the News explains why a story is not a substitute for the booking custodian or later court disposition.
